38:8. അപ്പോൾ യെഹൂദാ ഓനാനോടു: നിന്റെ ജ്യേഷ്ഠന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അവളോടു ദേവരധർമ്മം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു, ജ്യേഷ്ഠന്റെ പേർക്കു സന്തതിയെ ഉളവാക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38:8. Then Judah said to Onan, "Have sexual relations with your brother's wife and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her so that you may raise up a descendant for your brother."

38:8. Then Judah said to Er's brother Onan, "Go and marry Tamar, as our law requires of the brother of a man who has died. You must produce an heir for your brother."

38:8. And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brothers wife, and perform the duty of a husbands brother unto her, and raise up seed to thy brother.
