4:2. ഈ ദുർബ്ബലന്മാരായ യെഹൂദന്മാർ എന്തു ചെയ്‍വാൻ പോകുന്നു? അവരെ സമ്മതിക്കുമോ അവർ യാഗം കഴിക്കുമോ? ഒരു ദിവസംകൊണ്ടു പണി തീർത്തുകളയുമോ? വെന്തുകിടക്കുന്ന ചണ്ടിക്കൂമ്പാരങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു അവർ കല്ലു ജീവിപ്പിക്കുമോ എന്നിങ്ങനെ തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരും ശമർയ്യാസൈന്യവും കേൾക്കെ പറഞ്ഞു.

4:2. and in the presence of his colleagues and the army of Samaria he said, "What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they be left to themselves? Will they again offer sacrifice? Will they finish this in a day? Can they bring these burnt stones to life again from piles of dust?"

4:2. saying in front of his friends and the Samarian army officers, "What does this bunch of poor, feeble Jews think they're doing? Do they think they can build the wall in a single day by just offering a few sacrifices? Do they actually think they can make something of stones from a rubbish heap-- and charred ones at that?"

Maybe they think they can finish building in only one day. They cannot bring stones back to life from these piles of trash and dirt. These are just piles of ashes and dirt!"
