2:15. എന്നാൽ മൊർദ്ദെഖായി തനിക്കു മകളായിട്ടെടുത്തിരുന്ന അവന്റെ ചിറ്റപ്പൻ അബീഹയീലിന്റെ മകളായ എസ്ഥേരിന്നു രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ ചെല്ലുവാൻ മുറ വന്നപ്പോൾ അവൾ രാജാവിന്റെ ഷണ്ഡനും അന്തഃപുരപാലകനുമായ ഹേഗായി പറഞ്ഞതു മാത്രമല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും ചോദിച്ചില്ല. എന്നാൽ എസ്ഥേരിനെ കണ്ട എല്ലാവർക്കും അവളോടു പ്രീതി തോന്നും.

2:15. When it became the turn of Esther daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai (who had raised her as if she were his own daughter) to go to the king, she did not request anything except what Hegai the king's eunuch, who was overseer of the women, had recommended. Yet Esther met with the approval of all who saw her.

2:15. Esther was the daughter of Abihail, who was Mordecai's uncle. (Mordecai had adopted his younger cousin Esther.) When it was Esther's turn to go to the king, she accepted the advice of Hegai, the eunuch in charge of the harem. She asked for nothing except what he suggested, and she was admired by everyone who saw her.

Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the kings chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favor in the sight of all them that looked upon her.
