1:23. നിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ മത്സരികൾ; കള്ളന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടാളികൾ തന്നേ; അവർ ഒക്കെയും സമ്മാനപ്രിയരും പ്രതിഫലം കാംക്ഷിക്കുന്നവരും ആകുന്നു; അവർ അനാഥന്നു ന്യായം നടത്തിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നില്ല; വിധവയുടെ വ്യവഹാരം അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നതുമില്ല.

1:23. Your officials are rebels, they associate with thieves. All of them love bribery, and look for payoffs. They do not take up the cause of the orphan, or defend the rights of the widow.

1:23. Your leaders are rebels, the companions of thieves. All of them love bribes and demand payoffs, but they refuse to defend the cause of orphans or fight for the rights of widows.
