6:16. ഉപവസിക്കുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ കപടഭക്തിക്കാരെപ്പോലെ വാടിയ മുഖം കാണിക്കരുതു; അവർ ഉപവസിക്കുന്നതു മനുഷ്യർക്കു വിളങ്ങേണ്ടതിന്നു മുഖം വിരൂപമാക്കുന്നു; അവർക്കു പ്രതിഫലം കിട്ടിപ്പോയി എന്നു ഞാൻ സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

6:16. "When you fast, do not look sullen like the hypocrites, for they make their faces unattractive so that people will see them fasting. I tell you the truth, they have their reward.

6:16. "And when you fast, don't make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get.

6:16. Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.
