7:13. എന്നാൽ നന്മയായുള്ളതു എനിക്കു മരണകാരണമായിത്തീർന്നു എന്നോ? ഒരുനാളും അരുതു, പാപമത്രേ മരണമായിത്തീർന്നതു; അതു നന്മയായുള്ളതിനെക്കൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു മരണം ഉളവാക്കുന്നതിനാൽ പാപം എന്നു തെളിയേണ്ടതിന്നും കല്പനയാൽ അത്യന്തം പാപമായിത്തീരേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ.

7:13. Did that which is good, then, become death to me? Absolutely not! But sin, so that it would be shown to be sin, produced death in me through what is good, so that through the commandment sin would become utterly sinful.

7:13. But how can that be? Did the law, which is good, cause my death? Of course not! Sin used what was good to bring about my condemnation to death. So we can see how terrible sin really is. It uses God's good commands for its own evil purposes.

7:13. Did then that which is good become death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, by working death to me through that which is good; --that through the commandment sin might become exceeding sinful.
