20:42. അവർ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു; പട അവരെ പിന്തുടർന്നു; പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്നുള്ളവരെ അവർ അതതിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യേവെച്ചു സംഹരിച്ചു.

20:42. They retreated before the Israelites, taking the road to the wilderness. But the battle overtook them as men from the surrounding cities struck them down.

20:42. So they turned around and fled before the Israelites toward the wilderness. But they couldn't escape the battle, and the people who came out of the nearby towns were also killed.

20:42. Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle followed hard after them; and they that came out of the cities destroyed them in the midst thereof.

20:42. So the army of Benjamin ran away from the army of Israel. They ran toward the desert. But they could not escape the fighting. And the men of Israel came out of the cities and killed them.
